Description
The earliest plants of Acis autumnalis, the Autumn Snowflake, start blooming in July, while later varieties continue until October. This is "September Snow", flowering just now.
Most people believe that snowdrops (Galanthus) and snowflakes (Leucojum and Acis) present their flowers only in springtime but this is not true. In fact, one can have some of them flowering almost all over the year: the first snowdrops (Galanthus nivalis ssp. reginae-olgae) starting in October and continuing with different species until April, then accompanied by the snowflakes (Leucojum vernum, Acis nicaeensis). The Summer Snowflake, Leucojum aestivum, can last until early June - and the gap between June and October is filled by Acis autumnalis.
