Gothic

Dipsacus fullonum (syn. Dipsacus sylvestris), the Wild Teasel, is a plant with a very ornamental shape. For this reason, I use to grow a few of them in my garden but wild plants can often be found in the neighborhood, as well. Especially those giants growing in the meadows along the nearby brook are fine examples of herbal architecture: every one of them is a bundle of strong sprouts, all parts strictly upright like a Gothic cathedral, up to 6-7 ft. or 1.80-2.10 m high, at least! It is simply impressive to watch a group of 10 or 15 of these plants during sunset when the last rays of light hit them from behind, or even in the moonlight.
