Hesperantha coccinea (syn. Schizostylis coccinea), the River Lily or Crimson Flag, is an awesome and quite easily growing bulbous plant from South Africa and Zimbabwe.
It's hardy in England and even here in the Western part of Germany. In other regions, bulbs can be lifted in fall and stored under frost-free conditions, like Gladiolus bulbs. In summer, the River Lily needs plenty of water and a good fertilizer in order to produce its gorgeously colored flowers later in the year. Highly recommended!
