Hello to everybody and a Happy New Year!
Although I have been quite inactive here for many months people keep looking at my Deviant Art page, as the still increasing number of pageviews shows.
Well, this is really touching ... thank you very much, dear visitors!
So, I try to have a look at your photos every once in a while, and even upload a few of mine. Please do not expect too much, however - the focus in my life will still remain on my family, my work in the hospital and my research projects.
Last year, we finally managed to build a pond in the garden - one of my dreams for many years. We tried to keep it as natural as possible so it was quickly accepted as a new biotope by a lot of water beetles, damselflies, dragonflies, and frogs, toads and newts, as well. We won't put in any kind of fish, since the pond has no expensive water filtering device, and the surface covers only 20 square meters, or 215 square feet, which is much too small for a natural fish habitat here in our region.
The picture shows the "mating wheel" of the blue-tailed damselfly Ischnura elegans. The male was steadily watching me during the photo session so I had the impression that these two were somewhat disturbed by my camera.
